Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to help grieving people by volunteering at WinterSpring. We need people who are willing to share their skills to help WinterSpring serve others. Examples of such help are typing, computer help, phone help to make thank you calls to donors or other volunteers; gardening or litter pick up at the Memorial Grove, and sewing or other handiwork.

Bereavement volunteers may communicate individually with bereaved people, after attending the Grief Education series. With advanced training, some bereavement volunteers become group facilitators, in general bereavement or specialized groups.

WinterSpring is currently seeking actors of all ages for its Theatre Troupe. For more info, click here.

Internships

Every academic term, WinterSpring is fortunate to have several SOU and RCC interns do their capstone with us. After completing our 30 hour training interns may begin working in one of our groups or programs. Many have worked as facilitators in our children’s program and our divorce program. Most interns also help in the office with everything from copying to research to doing phone intakes. Interns gain practical work experience through their involvement with WinterSpring.

We are continually impressed with the high caliber of these interns. They are bright, eager to learn, conscientious, and willing to jump into new things. The only hard part is saying goodbye when they finish their time with us, but it makes us feel optimistic knowing these wonderful people are heading out into their chosen fields with a solid understanding of grief and loss and the vital role of support during the grieving process and will help people in whatever they end up doing.
